Valuable Volunteers!

"Unless I'm mistaken, the Great Commission applies to all Believers, and not just a few select chosen individuals. We are all told to 'go,' yet it takes great faith and courage (and the Holy Spirit) to get out and serve. Serving His Children is doing exactly as directed in Uganda. I visited their ministry in Jinja just a few months ago and was amazed at what the Lord is doing through just a few dedicated servants. In many respects, it shouldn't work, but it does! Many desperate, sick and hungry have experienced Christ through this ministry, but there us so much more to be done there. Additional assistance is needed. Prayer is needed. Support is needed. There is little doubt that ministering and working Uganda is rough even for the most hearty souls. There is danger, despair beyond imagine, isolation, and disease. I'd ask you to pray how God might use each of you in fulfilling the Commission in Jinga."

What would Serving His Children do without these AMAZING young women called to Serve His Children?

ShanaShana Plett, Canada:

This is Shana’s second trip to Uganda. She was already in Jinja when Renee arrived in June and stayed with her until Nursing School forced her back home! She plans to return to Masese in May for the summer of 2010.

Natasha Plett, Canada:

Shana’s sister spent 3 weeks developing her own passion for Africa! What a blessing to have her during the move and to help settle in.

Nicki Purcell, Virginia:

Nicki brought a little bit of home with her for Renee! Being a member of Renee’s home church for several years, Nicki watched SHC grow from a calling to reality and came for 2 weeks to see Renee’s dream fulfilled. Nicki is a 3rd grade teacher and is currently sharing her passion for the children of Masese with her whole school!

Rachel Fix & Arial Rynerson Minnesota:

Rachel and Arial just go together. Renee met them on her first trip during their whirlwind world wide year of missions work. Of all the places they worked, they fell in love with Uganda and worked closely with Renee for several months. It was only fitting that they come to welcome her in her new home and share some of the labor and joys! Their stay was only 2 weeks but they’ll be back!

Heidi Elliot, Colorado:

Heidi is an Elementary Education major with a passion for teaching young children about Jesus. She felt God’s call to mission work in Africa and when she read Renee’s blog started praying about being a part of SHC and starting a Bible Club Program in Masese. She took a 4 month leave of absence from work and is in Uganda until Dec. 9.

Elly MacPhail, South Carolina:elly

Elly has always been a part of Renee’s life; she is one of the 14 Cousins that were a big part of growing up in the Bach family! Elly is a Music Therapy graduate and could not find a better place to practice and teach music than with the lively, beautiful children in Masese! She is there for 2 months and will be leaving on Oct. 15 to begin her American career as a Music Therapist

Brigitte Bell, Bedford: brigette

God called Brigitte to Uganda at a time when Renee was looking at several months with no extra volunteer help. Brigitte has been a friend of Renee’s for many years and left her job in January to help Renee for 3 months. Her gift for loving children is apparent as she joyfully attends to every need of the little ones that God has placed at the SHC house. She has also blessed Renee with her cooking abilities and has greatly expanded the menu at the house! You can read more about Brigitte’s time in Uganda on her blog at www.brigittebell.blogspot.com.
